Fall might just be the best-smelling season. Pumpkin spice, crackling wood in the fireplace and apple cider can make any home go from feeling cold and dark to warm and inviting.
If you’d rather not burn one of those scented candles, you can achieve long-lasting autumn smells more naturally with a few simple ingredients and a slow cooker! This is also an excellent way to keep your house smelling great if you're selling your home — no need to worry about candles left burning!
Slow Cooker Scents
Make it a practice to save things like orange peels, cloves and cinnamon sticks.
If you have a slow cooker, you can put it to use all fall and create that fall oasis feeling at the same time. You can also use these scents on your stovetop by placing them in a pot with water. Just keep an eye on the stove to make sure the pot is always half filled with water.
5-6 cinnamon sticks, 1 cup cranberries, 2 teaspoons nutmeg and orange peels (from 2-3 oranges). Put in your slow cooker and fill with water until all of the ingredients are covered. Cook uncovered on low for 8 hours.
5-6 cinnamon sticks, apple peels from 4-5 apples, 5 (or more) orange slices and cloves. Cover the ingredients with water in your slow cooker. Cook uncovered on low for 8 hours.
Fill crock pot half way with water. Add: several drops of lavender essential oil,1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, a few sprigs of eucalyptus. Set on low for 8 hours.
Coffee & Cinnamon Rolls
1/4 cup coffee beans, four cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon cardamom pods, one teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Cover with water and set your slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
Enjoy all of the scents fall has to offer!
